    David Allen is MAT's Artistic 

    Director. He is the author of 

    numerous books and articles 

    on theatre, including  

    Stanislavski for  Beginners

    and Performing Chekhov .

    
    For MAT, David has directed 

    several productions, including

    Lady Chatterley's Lover. He 

    has also appeared as 

    Vladimir in Waiting for Godot

    and as Macbeth in Macbeth.

    Gillian Adamson is MAT's 

    Associate Director. She has 

    directed several productions, 

    including The Children and 

    The Mothers.

David Calcutt

MAT has formed a close working relationship with the writer, David Calcutt. David is a leading Midlands playwright. He has written numerous plays and drama series for Radios 3 & 4. His published work includes adaptations of Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

In 2001, MAT staged David's version of Lady Chatterley's Lover. In 2004, we staged a national tour of his play, Prospero's Island, followed in 2006 by a national tour of The Mothers. MAT has recently commissioned David to write a new play, with the working title The White Shining Land.

Our Patrons

MAT's patrons are Mike Alfreds and Brian Cox. Mike is a leading theatre director. He has worked with numerous companies throughout the world, including the Royal National Theatre and the Globe. He was the founder of Shared Experience. Brian Cox is one of our most respected actors, acclaimed for his performances on stage and screen. He was the original Hannibal Lecter in the film, Manhunter. He has written several books on acting including The Lear Diaries.
