Caucasia by Trevor Griffiths

 

World Premiere of a new play by the author of Comedians

    MAT has commissioned a new play by acclaimed dramatist Trevor Griffiths, 

    with the working title Caucasia

 

    Trevor has written extensively for theatre, TV and film. His work includes: 

    Comedians; The Party; Reds (Oscar-nominated screenplay); Bill Brand (TV 

    series) and The Last Place on Earth (TV series).

 

    Caucasia will be based on short stories by Anton Chekhov.

 

 

Acclaim for Griffiths' previous Chekhov adaptations

Griffiths has written two previous Chekhov adaptations. His acclaimed version of The Cherry Orchard was premiered at the Nottingham Playhouse in 1977, and filmed by the BBC in 1981. His play, Piano, based on Chekhov’s Platonov, was first seen at the National Theatre in 1990.
